Worshipping in church.
We would ask you to continue to wear a face covering and to respect other people’s distance. We are continuing with Holy Communion in one kind for the time being, this decision was reviewed at a recent PCC Meeting and will remain in place until the end of October when it will be reviewed again. Revd Mike.
Beryl Spencer’s funeral is on Monday 11 October, 1pm, at St Mary’s. Beryl and her husband Bert are longstanding and faithful members of our St Luke’s congregation. Please keep Bert and the family in your prayers.
Harvest Sunday – 3 October
The PCC have decided not to hold a Harvest Lunch this year due to the ongoing situation with Covid, however, normal refreshments will still take place in the hall.
Our next meeting is on 27th September when Karen Greenwood of the Guide Dog Organisation will give us a talk on her work as a Puppy Raiser – she is hoping to bring a living visual aid!!
We meet on the fourth Thursday of the month at 2pm. in the Church Hall and all are welcome. Audrey and Marian.
Looking forward to meeting again after the break in August.
The following meetings have been arranged to the end of the year, all meetings commence at 2:15 pm and are in the Howe Room unless otherwise stated, all welcome to join us.

After church refreshments have restarted at St Mary’s. We need people who can make drinks and those who can set up the hall up from October onwards, please sign up on the rota in the hall or call the office.

**CANCELLED** St Mary’s Nantwich: The service of Choral Evensong on Sunday 26 September 6pm has been cancelled due to the closure of the Choir following a number of positive Covid cases.
The hope is for people in Church of England churches across the country to use the Living in Love & Faith resources to study and pray together. The resources are designed to encourage and enable engagement and learning in a variety of settings. This church-wide learning together, listening to one another, and listening to God is part of discerning a way forward for the Church of England in relation to matters of identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage. The purpose of the resources is to enable the Church of England churches across the country to participate in a process of learning and praying together as part of discerning a way forward in relation to matters of identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage.
Revd Mike, along with the PCC, will be exploring ways to facilitate these discussions in our church community.

St Paul’s Foodbank Update
Here is our monthly update for St Paul’s Pantry for August 2021
The pantry has provided 79 households with a crisis food parcel which has helped to feed 187 people.
We are truly grateful for every item of food that is donated to the foodbank. We could not provide the support we do without these donations. Thank You!
Over the summer donations have been an all time low for the year so far so if you or anyone you know is planning a Harvest collection do please pass on our details. For large one off donations from named organisations we will be able to collect donations over the harvest period. Advanced notice of when a collection is needed is always very helpful when planning workload for our staff and volunteers so please encourage those who you know will organise a collection to let us know. They are welcome to email this address or telephone and ask to speak to myself.
We consistently have low stock of: tinned vegetables; tinned fruit; rice; rice pudding; instant snacks (noodles, mugshots); UHT milk; tea bags; microwave rice.
I have attached a poster about the foodbank and a shopping list that can be printed for use. Please do feel free to use this and send to anyone who may be interested in supporting the project.

Giving to St Mary’s & St Luke
The church’s finances are under extreme pressure at the moment. I would ask you to review your personal giving to the church. If you already give regularly then perhaps consider increasing your giving, if you don’t give regularly then perhaps consider doing this. I really do appreciate the giving that happens already and the extra giving that has taken place during the pandemic. However, due to the lack of income from not being in church and from not being able to let the church hall, plus our outgoings being fairly fixed, we have lost around £30,000 in the past 12 months. This obviously places us in a difficult and vulnerable financial position. To find out more about giving to church, the ways you can do it, and how you can do it in a tax-efficient way, please take a look below. Please keep our finances in your prayers.
