Attending Worship after the 19 July at St Mary’s and St Luke’s
The Government expects and recommends that people wear face coverings whilst inside public buildings and I feel this is sensible in church too. Therefore, I would ask that you continue to wear a face covering whilst entering and leaving the church, also preferably whilst seated and singing and sanitise on entry and exit. This is out of consideration and care for other people more than ourselves. All the clergy will continue to sanitise and wear face coverings. We are continuing with communion in one kind for the time being. Revd Mike.
The Mothers’ Union had its first meeting in the Church Hall since February 2020 on Wednesday 21 July, it was great to be together again. We prayed for our members who can’t be with us and for those we’ve lost since the pandemic struck. The next meeting is scheduled for September.
The Ladies Afternoon Group: We look forward very much to seeing you all on Thursday 26th. August at 2pm. in the Church Hall. We shall be able to renew our friendships and discuss how we all survived the covid pandemic situation (we hope!). Audrey & Marian.
Willaston Parish Council have conferred upon Edith the title and status of Honorary Freewoman of Willaston for services to fundraising and the community. Edith celebrated her 100th Birthday in May so it’s been an exciting few months for her! Edith was one of the original members of the congregation at St Luke’s Willaston when it opened in 1965.
The next Bishops of Birkenhead and Stockport
Our new Bishops, Julie & Sam, were consecrated at York Minster on Monday 19th July at 11am, you can view the service at youtu.be/FSLxgBGlATI. They will be installed and welcomed at the beginning of September. Please pray for them as they prepare to move and start ministry among us.

St Paul’s Foodbank Update
During the month of June… we received 1719kg of donated food. We have fed 181 people in our local community which equates to approximately 2196kg of food.
Over the last 6 months… St Paul’s Pantry has been able to provide crisis food to 1,199 people. We have received 11.6 tons of donated food and distributed 14.3 tons.
Thank you for your donations over the last 6 months and for your continued support, we simply couldn’t operate without the generous donations of individuals in our local community. Every tin, packet and carton really does count!
We are continuously short of the following items: UHT milk; tinned fruit; tinned vegetables; tinned potatoes; tea and coffee; meat pies; rice and jam. Food donations can be brought to our back gate any weekday between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Giving to St Mary’s & St Luke
The church’s finances are under extreme pressure at the moment. I would ask you to review your personal giving to the church. If you already give regularly then perhaps consider increasing your giving, if you don’t give regularly then perhaps consider doing this. I really do appreciate the giving that happens already and the extra giving that has taken place during the pandemic. However, due to the lack of income from not being in church and from not being able to let the church hall, plus our outgoings being fairly fixed, we have lost around £30,000 in the past 12 months. This obviously places us in a difficult and vulnerable financial position. Giving via you Bank – online or phone
You can give via your bank via online banking or telephone banking. If you do it this way we receive 100% of the money you give, there is no transaction fee. For phone banking you may need to take a look at a statement from your bank and it normally has the details of how to do this on the back. You can give once or set up a monthly payment. Please remember to never give passwords over the phone and only call the official number on your statement.
