July Church Magazine/Weekly Sheet
Below is the July Magazine, which doubles up as the Weekly Sheet for this week. It has the Readings, Collect and Post Communion Prayer in it for this Sunday.
The next Mothers’ Union Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 21 July (restrictions permitting) in the main church hall. Jenny Hall.
Hello to all the Ladies Afternoon Group. If circumstances allow, we are hoping to meet again on Thursday 26th August at 2pm in the Church Hall. The meeting will take the form of a social reunion with coffee, tea and biscuits – a speaker will not be necessary!! We hope to see you then. Audrey and Marian.
Willaston Parish Council have conferred upon Edith the title and status of Honorary Freewoman of Willaston for services to fundraising and the community. Edith celebrated her 100th Birthday in May so it’s been an exciting few months for her! Edith was one of the original members of the congregation at St Luke’s Willaston when it opened in 1965.

You no longer need to book to attend worship at St Luke’s or St Mary’s.
COVID-19 and attending church – a reminder of the basics…
- Wear a face covering (unless you have an exemption)
- Sanitise your hands on the way in and the way out
- Complete a Test & Trace Slip or Scan the QR code on the slip at the pew (not mandatory)
- Maintain at least a 1m+ Social Distance whilst in church
- Do not sit close to those not in your household/bubble, we have the seating arranged for you to do this, please follow the signage
- Remain in your pew once you arrive and do not walk about the church and talk to others
- Refrain from singing or loud conversations
By keeping to these simple practices, we show regard for others and help keep the church a safe place to be. Thank you. Revd Mike.
The next Bishops of Birkenhead and Stockport
The Venerable Julie Conalty, currently Archdeacon of Tonbridge, will be the next Bishop of Birkenhead, and the Revd Canon Sam Corley, currently Rector of Leeds Minster, will be the next Bishop of Stockport, Downing Street has announced. More details can be found on the Diocesan Website.

St Paul’s Foodbank Update
During the month of June… we received 1719kg of donated food. We have fed 181 people in our local community which equates to approximately 2196kg of food.
Over the last 6 months… St Paul’s Pantry has been able to provide crisis food to 1,199 people. We have received 11.6 tons of donated food and distributed 14.3 tons.
Thank you for your donations over the last 6 months and for your continued support, we simply couldn’t operate without the generous donations of individuals in our local community. Every tin, packet and carton really does count!
We are continuously short of the following items: UHT milk; tinned fruit; tinned vegetables; tinned potatoes; tea and coffee; meat pies; rice and jam. Food donations can be brought to our back gate any weekday between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Giving to St Mary’s & St Luke
The church’s finances are under extreme pressure at the moment. I would ask you to review your personal giving to the church. If you already give regularly then perhaps consider increasing your giving, if you don’t give regularly then perhaps consider doing this. I really do appreciate the giving that happens already and the extra giving that has taken place during the pandemic. However, due to the lack of income from not being in church and from not being able to let the church hall, plus our outgoings being fairly fixed, we have lost around £30,000 in the past 12 months. This obviously places us in a difficult and vulnerable financial position. You can give via our very simple online giving partnership with Give a Little and Sum Up. Simply click the button below. Sum Up take a small transaction fee from what you give.
Giving via you Bank – online or phone
You can give via your bank via online banking or telephone banking. If you do it this way we receive 100% of the money you give, there is no transaction fee. Here are the details you need to make a payment directly into the church bank account. For phone banking you may need to take a look at a statement from your bank and it normally has the details of how to do this on the back. You can give once or set up a monthly payment. Please remember to never give passwords over the phone and only call the official number on your statement.
