Ladies’ New Year Zoom Get Together
Following on from our Festive Zoom Meeting we hope that you will join us again for a “New Year Ladies Get Together”.
Date for the diary is Friday, 29th January at 7.00 pm – we would really love to speak to you and see you too. Together we will try to shake off that January gloom. If you can make it please bring along a knife, fork and spoon – no we will not be sending food through space as Willy Wonka tried to do but if you want to know more come along and all will be revealed on the night!
Please drop Joy an email if you would like the log in details – chaplowjoy@gmail.com. Stay safe and God Bless.
Joy & Sue.
Can you help? A message from Revd Mike
I hope you’re enjoying online worship? It has certainly helped keep us together as a worshipping community over the past 10 months. To be honest, we have done it all so far on a shoestring and have kept costs down to a minimum by using our own devices and computers. We have added new features over the months, again at no extra cost, and this month we will be adding a ‘phone in’ option to our Sunday worship so as those who can’t access online can listen to the service live – this will be of huge benefit to a small number of our congregation. However, and here’s where I need your help, the church laptop which we use to broadcast is not fast enough for the job. When we bought it in 2019 we never could have envisaged it being used as it is now! The bottom line is, we need a faster computer to keep things going now and into the future. The type of computer we need (for the nerds: minimum i5 or i7 processor with 16GB ram & a 25oGb SSD) would cost around £600 (for a desktop refurb). We have £250 in the pot at the moment, would you be in a position to make a donation towards it? I don’t want to burden the already stretched church finances if I can help it, but if we don’t upgrade soon we may well find ourselves unable to continue with the laptop we have, it may just give in under the strain we are putting on it! Probably like most of us at the moment!! If you can make a donation, of any amount, please let me know in the first instance. Many thanks, Revd Mike.
The reality of home schooling
In this Church House Blog the Revd Jenny Bridgman, Director of Studies for Pastoral Workers, Associate Vicar of Timperley, and mum of three primary aged children, shares her personal account of the challenges of homeschooling and urges us all to reach out to friends, family and neighbours and “be the calming presence” they might need. Jenny blogs about Leadership, Ministry, Parenting and Spirituality (sometimes all at once!) at Out of the Chancel.
New Director of Outreach begins
The Revd Peter Froggatt has begun his new role as Director of Outreach. Peter leads the new department of Outreach which incorporates the work of the previous departments of Mission and Social Responsibility. More here.
From St Paul’s Pantry (Crewe Foodbank)
Here’s our monthly Foodbank data for December that you may wish to share with your congregations:-
- Donations of food received weighed 5866kg and we were able to help 257 people during the month
If you are able to donate, we are currently running low on long life milk, sugar, tinned meat pies, and rice pudding. We are open Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 3.30pm for donations at our rear entrance.
Please let us know if you would like to know the total donations recorded from your church in the second half of 2020.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Best Wishes,
John Rivers
