Rev Paul’s Poppy Run

As the traffic through our buildings is vastly reduced this year, and our remembrance services can only be attended by a few people, it was decided that one of the clergy team should give the Poppy Run a go. I won! I will be joining a virtual community of fellow runners across the UK and completing my own run. I’m going to run 11k around our parish as close to the boundary as is safely possible. By taking part in this challenge I’ll be raising funds to support the Royal British Legion. Many thanks, Rev Paul.

Chris and Mike Horne have been busy making jams, pickles etc

Sue Squirrell writes: This time of year, Chris and Mike would normally be selling them in the Church Hall.  As we can’t do this at the moment, we thought we would advertise what is available and if you could let Chris or me know if you want an order, we will do our best to get this to you.

Hyacinths are also on the list, but please note, not available until w/c 14th December.

Thanks to Chris and Mike for making these available and also thanks to everyone who has placed their order so far.

All proceeds towards Church funds. Thank you.

To order call Chris Horne, mobile: 07756 575835 or Sue Squirrell, mobile: 07817 746288, e-mail: sue.squirrell@thedrey.co.uk

Special Events this Autumn

Things may be different this Autumn, but we have some exciting things to celebrate within God’s Love!

November:
Our Annual Commemoration Service will be held as an online only service this year and will take place on Sunday 1 November at 6pm.

Remembrance Sunday (08/11). We will have an act of worship in both churches for Remembrance Sunday, but it will be limited numbers and we will live-stream it. We will also officially open the new work around the War Memorial on that day. We have a shortfall of a couple of thousand pounds on this project, if you can help to cut this please click here or speak to Revd Mike, it would be good to get it in balance before the opening.

Funerals

Funerals this past week:
None

Funerals still to take place
None

Please keep their families in your prayers.

Church at Home Resources for all ages

Junior Church Resources

As we can’t meet together for Junior Church, each week we will publish something on here for our young people, and not so young people, to do at home.

We hope you find these resources useful.

  • You can click here, or the image above, to access the resource from St Mary’s
  • Also, each week The Ollertons have produced some great resources over the past few months
  • The Church of England’s ‘Faith at Home’ website has resources for young and old
  • The Bible Society’s Book Club is an amazing resource for older youth and their parents – it’s well worth a book to discover more about the Bible
